MSU/FCU Comes to the Lansing Center
When the MSU Federal Credit Union outgrew their previous venue space they approached the Lansing Center about hosting their annual awards dinner. The expectations for the event included 3 large projection screens with a matrix switch of cameras, videos, graphics, and a social media feed; a professional flown audio system; and decorative lighting that included an aurora borealis effect on the walls of the event space. All of these elements are well within the capabilities of Chase Creative… but one major challenge remained.
This show had to be executed with setup, rehearsals, show, and strike all in the same marathon day due to existing bookings in the same room the day before and day after MSU/FCU’s event.
“Ordinarily for an event of this size and scope we like to have a separate setup day for several reasons,” says project manager Scott Mohler. “We want to ensure there is enough time to setup and execute a show not only to our clients’ high standards, but also to our own internal standards.” There is also an impact on the show budget as there are significant overtime charges on a marathon day where there would be much less overtime when splitting off setup to the day before the event.
The Chase Creative team was up for the challenge. “We wanted to find ways to deliver the quality of event our client expected without cutting corners” says sales executive Andrew Bolkcom, adding “we had to come up with creative ways to execute an excellent event within the timeframe available to us.”
By assigning the right technical department leads in audio, lighting, and video and keeping what would typically be an elaborate setup compact, we were able to deliver a great event on time, on budget, and without compromise. MSU/FCU’s event planners didn’t have to spend any time stressing about the audiovisual and, more importantly, their award winners got their moment to shine on stage and on screen.
