How to stage casino concert venue for corporate awards
For the past five years Chase Creative Unlimited has been proud to provide audio visual staging services for the ReMax of Michigan Annual Awards Gala. This year the event was booked into a casino concert venue that presented some unique challenges for staging a corporate awards event.
The first challenge was to find a way to make a concert venue not look like a concert venue while integrating the in-house concert sound and light systems with our own. We achieved this with creative use of pipe and drape to conceal the portion of the concert audio system not used as well as creating a temporary back-stage area that included concealed awardee walk-ups that allowed each awardee their own moment in lights in front of their peers.
How to stage it back for concert entertainment
Our next challenge was to create a way for the night’s entertainment, a great local cover band, to begin playing the moment the awards show was over, on the same stage as the awards show, while still being close to the audience. The easy way for this to work is to hide the band behind a traveler curtain, but the house curtain was 18 feet away from the audience and would have created a disconnect between the band and audience. So we brought our own traveler curtain and hung it as close to the front of the stage as we could while leaving room for the awards show out front. As soon as the awards show ended the curtain opened, the band engaged with the audience, and despite the lure of the near-by casino floor a large portion of the audience stayed until the bitter end.
The Wow transformation
The event was a big hit, and a big part of that was taking the venue booked and creatively transforming it into the venue the client ultimately wanted.
