Change is inevitable and we have seen major changes in the event industry since the rise and
fall of Covid-19. Here are a list of major changes in the industry and how the event industry
successfully adapted internally and externally since.
1. Increase In Online Events
For almost two years we were unable to attend or put on in-person seminars, which
naturally brought us to the internet. This had its pros and cons; personal interaction and
networking is huge for public events but it limits the capacity of the event itself. Moving
into an online market, people were able to open up their event to a global arena. Two
years later, it is still extremely popular and doesn’t look like it will be letting up anytime
soon!
2. Rapid Growth of Technology
The pandemic accelerated new technologies in the major pinch the world was in. For the
event industry it was virtual event platforms, contactless check-in systems, online group
interaction technology, etc. This trend has yet to stick since the majority of major companies
remain fully remote. However, this technology may be worth exploring for that next in-person
event.
3. Event Creativity
Since we were no longer allowed within 6 feet of one another, the industry got creative!
From drive in events to outdoor only events, the show must go on! Allowing people to still have
the necessary human connection and keeping businesses afloat led to a lot of new creative
options.
4. Hybrid Events
Even when things started to go back to normal, companies maintained an online
presence with their events. Hybrid events were more popular than ever and will be staying that
way. Why not almost quadruple event attendees if you can!
Covid-19 brought significant changes to the event industry, but while it brought rapid downfalls it
also brought many new opportunities for event companies to grasp. We will continue to see
where these changes will bring us. For now we'll all stay adaptable and flexible to the upcoming
options and choices at future events!
